January Club Meeting 2004

A standing room only for the first Club meeting of the year 2004 boasted hot coffee,
donuts, soft drinks, lots of family fun and plenty of Ham radio chatter among old friends.











President Chuck Crist - W9IH began the new year meeting with club officer introductions
and presented the group with the 2004 theme; " Ham Radio is teamwork & FUN ! ".
Balanced with goals to Improve club participation in meetings, membership,
youth & family and On-Air operations.

Old business ;
presented the 2003 Indy Radio Club award to
Mike Sercer- WA9FDO
for his outstanding contributions
to our community. Congrats! Mike





The newly activated committee reports of the Operations and Education / youth committees
were presented briefing everyone on their respective plans for 2004…

Chuck-W9IH presented the club with a new club
monthly longest DX Award
and the rules for selection of the award .
( tube was donated by roger-W9BZ & Ken- K9POE)
1. Must be an IRC member to participate
2. Must use HAM radio NOT connected to a computer
3. Use silent ballot based on Date & Time to break ties.
Earliest Contact wins. (Honor System).
4. Return AWARD At the NEXT months IRC Meeting!


The 2004 January winner was Steve Wendt- KB9RDS with a 20 meter SSB contact to Antarctica…!
This should give club members something to shoot at for Feburary.

Our Guest speaker was: Major John Mishler ; topic "Indiana statewide digital repeater system."


The Division Commander of the Communications Division
of the Indiana State Police
presented Motorola's endeavor at linked repeaters,
and systems control.
Outstanding presentation.!
