  • 2005 October meeting

    • Club meeting was held on Friday evening Oct. 14th .
    Meeting was held at the Indianapolis Training Center;
    2820 N Merdian st, Indianapolis.







    Our radio clubs New 2005 theme : "Our 91st year; Get Radio Active!" ....
    refreshments provided By our club and the ITC Kitchen staff
    Special thanks to Ed Conder-(N9IZN-2) an the refreshment committee!..

    new and old hams and friends attended this meeting .....Meeting attendance was 55 !
    IRC membership is 100 plus todate...

    []1st annual Chilli cook off; was postponed till early 2006; watch the events calendar for the resked.
    []…Oct 15th BSA-JOTA at W9IMS station…. Thanks to Mike Henney-KE9YA the
    co sponsored JOTA event; held at the W9IMS station was a great success.

    []- -Nov 11th is our club elections! Nomination committee :
    K9RTT,K9XV,N9IZN & N9KZJ
    (SEE THEM TO NOMINATE OR VOLUNTEER TIME FOR THE CLUB)
    All seven position will be up for election this year.

    There were 10 new hams (within the last 1-1/2 yrs) present for this meeting.The oldest was W9YZ....!( he told us so!)
    []-Tom Price WB9UNG; IRC News letter editor quiting…Your club needs a volunteer!?.
    This is a Committee position appointed by the IRC Executive board. please submit your name to any club officer.

    []Bob Blake-N9FIM; suggested :Starting in Jan.2006; IRC would grant free membership for new
    1st time Ham radio persons wishing to join our club.This will be forwarded to the IRC board for a decision.

    In order to process any between club meetings information in a timley fassion the
    IRC board ask that any one with IRC club related Health & welfare Info; pass it to our club Sectretary for handling.

    October Program was: "Ham radio micro Wave (10ghz contacts) ".
    Speaker Dave Miller -K9RTT & Jim Reinhart-K9RU .
    Dave ; explained the beginings of Microwave and how present day systems and equipment have evloved.




















    After the Program; a lot of those present stayed to participate in the hands on demonstration, using the
    10Ghz system provided by our speakers.
    Each person making contact was awarded a QSL contact card for 10Ghz.
    If you missed this program "You missed a very interesing one!".

    Free Prize drawing was coordinated by Bob Osterhous-W9PSE.
    There were several nice prizes including a 5.8Ghz wireless home phone system.

    Next Meeting:..Friday, November 11th 2005, at 7:00PM at the
    Indianapolis Training Center,2820 N Merdian st.; bring a guest & come early for the social session..
    Coffee time begins at 7:00 PM; This is club elections!

    Program will be: "Ham radio & Software Defined Radio concepts !" ;
    Presenter ,is Hank Wolfa-K9LZJ.
